Andhra Pradesh faces severe heatwave conditions as temperatures cross 45°C across multiple districts. The State Disaster Management Authority warns of extreme heat, thunderstorms, and lightning risks across 64 mandal units. Authorities urge citizens, farmers, and labourers to take precautions amid unstable weather conditions and expected rainfall relief in coming days.

Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) on Saturday issued a warning over persistent heatwave conditions and soaring temperatures across multiple regions of the state, with authorities urging citizens to take urgent precautions against extreme weather.

Heatwave conditions are expected to prevail across 64 administrative mandal units spread over Vizianagaram, Manyam, Polavaram, NTR, Guntur, Palnadu, Markapuram, Prakasam, Nellore, and Tirupati districts, according to the official advisory.

SDMA Managing Director Prakhar Jain, in a formal press release, stated that heatwave conditions combined with high temperatures are likely to persist across several regions of the state on Saturday, with the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning in select areas.

Jain further highlighted that on Friday, severe heat impact was recorded across 252 administrative mandal units in 20 districts, with temperatures exceeding 41 degrees Celsius in multiple locations.

Under its influence, isolated light rainfall accompanied by lightning activity is expected in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Manyam, Alluri, Polavaram, Visakhapatnam, Chittoor, and Tirupati districts on Saturday.

Authorities indicated that a marginal relief from extreme heat is expected on Sunday and Monday, with forecasts suggesting cloudy conditions and intermittent rainfall accompanied by gusty winds in certain districts.

The SDMA has advised residents to adopt all necessary precautions against extreme heat and humid conditions. Farmers, labourers, and shepherds have been specifically cautioned against standing under trees during thunderstorms due to lightning risk.

The situation underscores the intensifying impact of extreme summer conditions across Andhra Pradesh, with authorities maintaining close monitoring as weather instability continues across the region.a
